LET’s talk about your DREAM WEDDING IN ICELAND

The land of fire and ice

Galciers, volcanoes, waterfalls, cliffs, ice caves and black beaches - the stunning scenery of Iceland is the perfect backdrop for celebrating your unique love story.

Iceland's landscape is vast, wild and remote. Upon being there for the first time, many people describe it as “a place like no other” or “being on another planet”.

Is Iceland the right place for us to get married?

Let’s face it - getting married in Iceland is not for everyone. The most important thing is knowing what to expect and which challanges can arise when getting married in Iceland.

Go through these questions to find out if Iceland might be indeed your dream wedding destination:

  • You want a wildly different wedding experience abroad

  • You don’t want a city hall wedding, but an outdoor wedding in beautiful and rough scenery

  • You want to craft a wedding day that is 100% “US”

  • You love the outdoors and are not afraid of bad weather

  • You want an unconventional wedding

  • You want beautiful landscapes to be part of your wedding day

  • You are ok with the possibility of rain and harsh weather on your wedding day

  • You are not afraid to get your wedding outfits dirty

  • If necessary, switching to Plan B, or C or D is ok with you and won’t tarnish your stoke for getting married in Iceland

If you answered all these questions with a resounding YES - then Iceland is the place for you to get married!

INFO, ADVICE and tIps

High and low season

In high season(end June to mid/end of August), Iceland gets very busy and certain well-known locations are crowded with flocks of people. The good news is - Iceland is beautiful everywhere and sometimes all it takes is to stop at places that are not officially named in all the travel guides, or hike a little to be just by ourselves. Going the extra mile to explore places no one has been to has always proven to be worth it! High summer season is one of the busiest times in Iceland - make sure to book your accommodation in advance. Also, AirBnB is always a great platform for finding unique and charming cabins in remote areas that can be included in your photo shoot to tell the whole story and feel of your trip. The low season months before and after those busy times (Mai to June, end of August to mid October) are much more quiet, it's easier and cheaper to find accommodation and Iceland is not yet overrun by the masses. If you are flexible in your travel schedule and you are not planning to drive through the Central Highlands with your rental vehicle, it's something worth to consider.

Infrastructure
The streets in Iceland are often pretty rough and the speed limit is low, the weather is crazy and can throw all four seasons upon us multiple times a day. Also, certain locations are only accessible via dirt roads and require 4x4 off-road capable vehicles and slow driving. It's ok to take breaks and warm up again in between and not rush, this should be a fun and unforgettable adventure! Also, we are sometimes going to have to drive in between locations or hike to reach the most amazing spots - or simply to avoid the masses.
