Black Sand Beach Elopement I Iceland Wedding Photographer

This is the story of Bianka and Francesco - a lovely international cat-loving couple who fell in love in Italy and have been roaming together the North ever since. We had so much fun during our elopement photo session exploring the greater area around Vík and the peninsula of Dyrhólaey with the famous Arch and cliffs that drop down straight into nothingness. We visited Black Sand Beach with its stunning basalt columns and the shoreline seemed to be endless. We learned about the phenomenon of "sneaker waves", which makes this beach, as beautiful as it is, one of the most dangerous in Iceland.

Next, we headed to Skógafoss , one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland with a 60 meter drop and masses of water shooting down. It is possible to walk up the stairs next to the waterfall which is an absolutely overwhelming feeling.

Our last stop was a drive inland to one of the last preserved turf houses in Iceland, just as the sun went down. We happened to be the only people there around this time, imagining how it must have felt living a life in the solitude of this unforgiving, yet beautiful landscape. My couple was brave enough to freeze through the beach breeze and waterfall spray, we laughed and I learned about their furry-cat-daughter they were missing to much. Thank you for this adventure I will for sure never forget! Wedding Dress: Petra Pflegpeter Couture
