Hallie and Zac decided to do something special for their elopement wedding in the Dolomites: for the sunrise portion of their day, they wanted a more casual experience at Lago di Braies, saving their wedding outfits and vows for the second location later in the mountains. They had rented the whole boat dock at Lago di Braies for a private and quiet experience and a boat ride on the calm waters just for the two of them. For more info on how to prepare for a wedding, elopement or engagement photo shoot at Lago di Braies, check out this post.
The fog lifted once the sun came out and the water was crystal clear and a perfect mirror on this late September day. Hallie’s grandparents got engaged on a boat, so they chose to follow this tradition.
For the second half of the day we headed into the mountains a bit earlier than planned. Looking at the weather models, the forecast showed a local snow storm for the afternoon and so we decided to reschedule the sunset vow ceremony. After warming up properly with a cup of cocoa, we decided to head up earlier than planned. Hallie and Zac got ready in their Jeep, then had their first look in wedding outfits with snowy peaks as their backdrop. Next, we hiked to their vow ceremony location and the moody fog looked absolutely stunning. It turned out to be a good decision to be flexible with time as it started raining soft ice pellets and snow just as we were finished and about to hike back down. What a true adventure elopement wedding in the Dolomites!
